Magnets and Magazines

Gotta question for yall. I just got a gun safe, and when putting my guns in, realized I don't have much room for magazines. I got to thinkin, and got a couple of neodymium magnets off the fridge and they make my magazines stick great to the inside of the door (looks cool too). I need to go buy a bunch more for all my mags, but my question is this.

Is there any reason i shouldn't do this? Will it magnetize my magazines? And if so, will that pose problems in their function?

I realize brass and lead can't magnetize. Was concerned more about not ejecting properly, or picking up small peices of metal in or on the outside of the magazine.

Any concerns????

Thanks, SilverJeep

I think you may have a valid concern with the mag attracting bits of metal. This would be more or less of an issue depending on the firearm you are using. I wouldn't expect it to be a real issue assuming you clean out your mags after every visit to the range (which I do religiously).

My only concern would be the effect if any on the steel tumblers in the combination lock...might have trouble opening your safe.:bear_w00t:

Wow, that would be a BITCH; to drill out your safe because of some magnets stuck on the inside door. I think I'd practice knocking the hell out of the safe in the interest of knocking the magnets off the door first.

Or attach the magnets to the sides or back of the safe...

Hmm good point.

Maybe since the tumblers are near the top of the door, I'll put them on the bottom. ???

Think I'll stick a bunch on teh OUTSIDE right next to the dial and see if it effects it. If so, maybe need to rethink. If not, probably good to go.

There might be a problem with steel-cased ammo like Wolf and Sapsan, especially with feeding the last round or two.
